Dr. Petersen has a Medical Degree from University of Copenhagen and has worked in Cardiology and Emergency Medicine. He has vast experience in the private medical business and has extensive research experience in blood pressure and fluid regulation, intracranial pressure regulation and has studied the effects of Lower Body Negative Pressure on all of the above.

Most recently won the Arnold D. Tuttle Award for her significant work on countermeasures in human spaceflight. Dr. Petersen has received several NASA-grants to continually explore and develop countermeasures to some of the most pressing problems currently facing human space exploration and manned missions to Mars which relates to regulation of the intracerebral pressure and is holder of several pending patents.
Dr Petersen is an M.D. from the University of Copenhagen, and has a Ph.D. in Gravitational Physiology and Space Medicine.
